2/10/09 The blue ford pickup was found in Crow in a ditch, and returned to owner monday afternoon. Thanks!
2/9/09 - Saturday Feb. 7th a 1975 ford pick up was stolen out of the driveway in Santa clara. The gentleman that lost his truck never got a look at our thief, only heard it on the next block over as it was leaving. The police were only interested in my freind following his property, because of the 357 he was legally packing. So I got some information on the truck for the Rangers and block watch groups we work with, to keep an eye out for it. 1975 ford longbed pickup, dark blue in color, big truck mirrors, studded tires, Oregon lic. plate clp 480. If you see this vehicle call your local police dept. Thank you. Ranger Chris Griffith
12/6/08 - With permission from the owner, please watch for this stolen trailer.
My dads custom trailer was stolen last night from HWY 22 in the Lyons Mehama area with a full load of seasoned firewood. This is a custom built trailer and there are probably none just like it. It was custom built by the rusty wheel in scio. It has it printed on the back. Please if you see this trailer call 503-881-2022 or 503-400-0606.
Thanks

6/6/08 -Just a follow-up note to the alert sent last night.
While driving by the Richardson property at Territorial and High Pass where the harrow was stolen, observed was a blue/teal/turquoise (?) car hesitantly pull into the road and just sit there until we stopped across the road. The driver, a female with long brown/blonde hair looked really nervous and pulled away.
OR plate ZGW 190. It is 2002 Mazda 4-door out of Springfield. Could this be a scout for steel from the farm equipment? Or the car from the robbery @ 36 and Poodle Creek?
Please be on the watch for this car.
6/5/08 - As written and shared with the Oregon Rangers from a community watch group.
Thursday, June 5, 11:00 a.m.
Hi all -
I received word yesterday from members in the vicinity of the intersection
of Poodle Creek Road and Hwy. 36 about a Tuesday, June 3 daylight burglary at their
neighbors' place. The perps broke into the back of the house via the big window. All of the
jewelry boxes were taken, but nothing else was missing. The place is very open, and the gate is always open. The dogs were in the kennels.
Our member was home and noticed a strange small bright blue car, maybe a 4
door, drive by her place very slowly. She thought it was unusual, given the
amount of fast driving traffic in the area before the last passing spot
before Poodle Creek Rd. Evidently, she was unable to see the neighbors'
house or the activity that took place.
Law enforcement responded after the burglary, but no finger prints were
found. Sounds like these folks know what they are doing. Closing and
locking gates might deter potential property entry by unwanted people.
6/5/08 - Information was given to the Eugene BLM of a late model tan/silver GMC, short-wide. P/U with matching bedcover, California lic plates, who was seen purchasing 8 LARGE bags of Miracle Grow, a pick-ax, a sprayer and fertizer and folage spray. Hispanic male, approx late 30's. Very nervous. Lic plate # given to BLM ranger. Might we guess that this P/U could be seen somewhere planting something green in the forest???? Please watch for. If you see this P/u in the woods, please note the area and call BLM ranger @ 729-6934.
5/30/08 - Report of stolen farm equipment from the corner of High Pass and Territorial. Theives stolen a large farm filed harrow from nearly 500 yards out in the filed. Said price of scrap is over $300 ton. Please be alert of what is happening around us. If it looks disturbing, something is likely wrong. This was immediately called into LCSO.
5/28/08 - General alert: There appears to be an increase of physical violence amoung people in our neighborhoods. As times get harder and crime more blatant, it is important to remember that your safety comes first. Here are some examples of is happening.
93150 Prairie Rd- assault......29379 Lingo Ln - domestic.......96250 Noration Rd - burglery........29229 Milliron - dispute..........93416 River Rd - RV distroyed intentionally...........
3/26/08 An incident of old tire dumping on Territorial Hwy this week. About 7 old tires were dumped right in front of Rest Lawn Memorial Park on Sunday night. The previous two dumpings occurred about 10 days earlier about a half mile north of this location on Territorial. About 20 tires were dumped in these first two incidents. If you witness tire dumping, please let us know and call LCSO. Hopefully, you can capture a lic plate.

Just 4 minutes ago,the Oregon Rangers received a call from a farmer on Kirk Rd who shared the following information:
1. An unknown person released over 50 hogs from the holding pen to allow them to run freely onto the road. Message: Watch your stock doors, pen gates and farm driveways. Security solutions have been discussed with this farmer and the Oregon Rangers will be assisting in placing security cameras (for free). This is classified as ECO-TERRORISM.
2. A home was broken into onto Kirk Rd yesterday by a male, approx 30 y.o. This man is known to the family, but had not been seen in some time. After speaking with a family member at the barn and acting "odd", it was discovered that he left the barn and drove up to the house, jumped the fence, broke into the home and stole a Rx for Vicodin. Message: Prescription medicine is the "HOT..NEW..ITEM for drug users/abusers.
Follow-up: Hubert's truck was found today (2/26) on the boat ramp on Hayes lane locked up, all tools were gone, a .38 special under the seat was also missing, and they took the keys. Thanks to all who were looking out for the truck. Chris
2/24/08 - 5:10 pm
Just reported as observed approx 30 minutes ago, on High Pass, west of J.C. on USFS Rd 15-6-21.1, a dumping/possible drug deal. Observed was a 1995 (?) Turquoise Ford Explorer Oregon Plate YKL 149, being driven by a male approx 40-45 y.o. and one additional person. WHat made the observer take note was the obvious odor of marijuana being emitted from an open window. While not directly confrontational, the driver made evident that he was unhappy about being observed and promptly left the scene, driving east toward Junction City. Please be alert for this vehicle/similar activity. This is an unusual color and most likely a repaint.
2/22/08 - Reported @4:05 pm _ Theft of a Dark Blue Ford 250 P/U. Extended cab with a matching canopy.. Oregon Plate TEE 496 belonging to Hubert Christenson. This was stolen from his work place in Harrisburg just minutes ago and was believed to be south bound on Hwy 99 toward Junction City. Please report to LCSO if this truck is seen.

2/13/08 – LCSO arrested a male observed just north of Milliron and Hwy 99. What appeared odd was there was no vehicle near and the man was standing idle looking at the ground. A background check confirmed an outstanding warrant. Message: When someone looks suspicious or elusive, there is most likely a reason. Nice work LCSO!
2/13/08 – People living at 93047 River Rd were the victims of mail theft. Message: If you are home during the day, retrieve your mail promptly after delivery. If you are away from home, utilize a security mailbox with a slot for your mail or arrange for a trusted neighbor to pick it up while you are away. Let’s hope all this thief got was “junk mail”.
Friday, Feb. 9,
At about 10:00 a.m., a woman returned to her home on
Territorial Rd, south of the intersection of Lawrence Rd, to find a car
parked in her garage. Thinking it must be a friend, she went to the house
and found the door broken up, the house ransacked, and two men in the house.
Before she could get out they caught her and beat her up pretty badly,
shoving her chest so hard that she fell backwards and hit her head on a
table that knocked her out.
The men took her purse and several pillow cases full of things including the
silverware. She went to the hospital by ambulance.
The woman said that the car was a yellowish-tan Toyota Seleca with a slant
back. No description of the men was included in either report.
The community is experiencing an increasing number of strange cars in our neighborhoods. The drivers appear brave and sit in the driveways. Consider a strange car a red flag.
Remember: If you arrive home to find a strange car, empty or
occupied, in or around your driveway or on the road next to your property,
DO NOT ENTER YOUR HOUSE! Go to the nearest neighbor and call the Lane
County Sheriff's Office or the State Police, whichever has jurisdiction. Do
not go to your house until you know that help has arrived. This could save
your life.
Similarly, if you see unknown people on your property, call a neighbor or
neighbors to alert them to your concern. Call the Lane County Sheriff's
Office or the State Police if you believe you are in danger or that the
persons pose a threat to you. Do not go outside or approach the persons.

Alert! At 3:02 pm today , observed trespassing on farmland property on Sovern Lane were 3 vehicles, description as follows: (Please note, the landowner was SO Grateful!)
Black Chevy Camero, 1987, Or Lic # XLL-707, recently sold with registered owner info pending. Driver was a white male approx 250+ lbs, with darker collar length hair, reddish beard and mustache. Unkept appearance. Impression was that this could be the same male/ combo recently reported on Kirk Rd.
Older 1982 white Chevy van, OR plate FTY-939, registered to Roy James McGregor of 225 High St in Eugene .
White Plymouth Reliant 1988, Or plate PPY-594, registered to a Nelda L. Rasor of 3033 Gateway apt 99 in Spfd. Driver of this car was a female approx 30-40, dirty blond hair, uncombed, dark roots. Car has a broken front window. Free standing speakers in the back window.
These vehicles were traveling together. They ran when noted they were being watched. Observed to be packed in the front of the Camero were fishing poles, a large black case, multiple camping gear, etc. Also a thought……all the vehicles being observed to be trespassing on private lands are those that have been recently bought/stolen and are not register to new owners.
Keep your eyes open…..call all info to LCSO. 682-4150.

Important information! What a story!
At 5 pm this evening, we witnessed a 2004 Dodge P/U, brown club cab, Or. plate 521 DLC driving on Duane Richardson's property. Mr Richardson saw this also. Walking in front of his home and "scoping" his barn and home area were also 2 males. One is slight build and light hair, the second is heavy body build with dark hair. Est. age of both would be late 20's, early 30's, wearing scruffy clothing, and flannel shirts. As the pickup passed by the home for the 3rd time, she (white female with medium build, brunette hair, shoulder length, approx 140 (?) pounds, stopped and picked them up and then sat in the driveway. Mr Richardson asked us to approach and inquire if they needed assistance, which we did. The female driver denied needing help and told us this was an "exercise", that she threw pennies on roadways and these men walked along "searching for gold". We shared with her that the neighbors along this road watched each others homes and that was most likely not the best area to do such an activity. She gave us a weird laugh and said she"does this on a lot of backroads". The blonde male spoke up and said this was a paved road. We agreed that it was paved and again shared that this made neighbors nervous and they may want to do their "activity" in another area. At that point, he snapped " tell your monkey's I said hi". We smiled and told them to do the same. They sped away, observed by Kirk Richardson, who had been called by a neighbor also. This P/U belongs to a registered owner of Breeze Easton, of 1452 Peadmont, Springfield Oregon 97477, and was noted to be tresspassing on property owned by the Richardson family.

Eric Freepons had brass fittings taken out of his irrigation sprinklers on
either Sunday or Monday night. He was moving all of the pipe back to the
warehouse on Hwy. 36 when I came home Mon evening. Farmers need to be aware
of the theft of these fittings; just another thing for the thieves to sell
and get money for.
Also, Kirk road reporting suspicious vehicle(s) around a farmers barn. When it was made apparant that their lic # was being taken, they decided to go elsewhere. Seems they do not like being observed and recorded? This was 9/28/07 @ 8:30 pm.

A concern passed along from Jackie:
I have heard from a friend of mine that somebody is dropping off horses on
rural roads in her area ( Harrisburg/Halsey) . A Linn County sheriff had
asked her if she has noticed any horse trailers in the area and to keep a
look out. They are in a large farming ( hay ) area and not many horses for
miles around. Just wanted to pass it along. ***
Hi all -
Regarding the horses that Jackie reported being dropped off in the
Harrisburg/Halsey area, my neighbor replied:
In regards to the horses that are being dropped off in locations for no
reason. I happened to have gotten involved in a case of horse abandonment
about 3 months ago. It just so happens that the lady that abandoned those
horses does it for a living. She drops the horses in a location, then sues
the owners for theft, and she has won every case. Last I heard she was in
prison, but who knows how long that lasts. It's a long story, but I would
warn everyone to not get involved and to notify the police ASAP. The police
are very aware of what this lady does. P.S. she is very violent.
Whoa! Sounds very interesting. Wonder if it is the same person doing it
now? Anyway, take Jennifer's advice and call the Lane County Sheriff's
Office if this occurs on your property and caution your neighbors to do the
same.

I got a phone call last night that the P/U stolen from SureCrop Farms has been found! It was hidden behind a home on Issak Walton Rd by Lorane Hwy. It was locked, so the thief still has the keys. No other items taken were located at this time. Thanks to everyone for keeping their eyes open. Way to go LCSO! You need a great job on this case.

9/1/07 @ 7:15 am, we encountered a car parked on farm property on Sovern Ln just east of the bridge on Flat Creek and noticed 2 females walking north along the edge of the field. They turned as we stopped along side the road to observe their actions. They continued walking about 100 ft further, then turned and walked back, approaching our car. One female was approx 40-45, blonde, approx 150 lb. The second female was young, est age 12, also blonde. They came up to the car and stated voluntarily that they "had been watching a meteor shower and their cat bolted on them and ran from the car". They were looking for the cat. We informed her she was on private property and she needed to ask for permission first as she would be tresspassing without permission. We provided her with an Oregon Ranger card and told her how to contact the owner, which she stated she would do. She then stated she works in Eugene for an attorney and perhaps that was going to be a good thing if she needed representation. At that point we left, noting the lic and make of the auto to give to the property owner. Our general impression was one of a woman with a mental health challange.
This plate, having been run with permission of the landowner for security purposes is flagged, which means it was recently sold and the previous owner notified the DMV, but the new owner has not put the car in their name yet. No information is available for Oregon plate UBZ 313. It is a maroon station wagon, small sized.
It has since come to our attention that this same woman has shared various statements to other people about wandering in the local area, including "going to watch old cannons being fired". Please be alert to this woman and use caution when encountering her.
Reported Aug 26th, 2007
A homeowner on Sovern Lane had a well-dressed man approach her home in the middle of the day, driving a deep red (metallic like) van. He was dressed in a shirt and tie. Sandy colored with some greying hair, short in length and thin on top. Age approx late 40's-50. Clean shaven. The homeowner did not answer the door as she had just stepped from the shower. She could see the man from the bathroom window via a 2 inch crack she opened quietly. Thinking that it was likely a salesman, she did not think too much of it until about 5 minutes later, a white, mid-sized pickup came into her side yard, drove around the home, scoping out the shop, the RV garage, made a small circle to point towards the road and sat there. The homeowner, having gotten dressed by then, yelled out from the yard, where upon the driver looked startled and said, "Does Chris live here?" The homeowner placed her hands on her hips and said loudly and firmly NO! The driver persisted and the homeowner was abrupt and firm, letting the driver know she did not want to talk and that he should leave.
He left the property and exited towards Prairie Rd, turning Rt. Less than 5 minutes later, as she was standing at her kitchen window, she noted both the red van and the white P/U drive back by her house from the River Rd end of Sovern, approx 200 yards apart. Just behind those two vehicle were two white panel van with no writing on them. After they had passed her home again, she decided to follow them. They turned toward Eugene on River Rd. and she did not go further. Later that same day, she witnessed what she believes to be the same 4 vehicles (quite by accident), near Irving and River Rd, all traveling together after coming from a small driveway behind TrackTown Pizza.
Keep your eyes alert for this van(s). It is a common MO (motive of operation) to send a "everyday" looking person to a door to ask for directions and then if there is no one home, send a car(s) to rob the home.
As always, keep a watch on your property and that of your neighbors. Be a snoopy neighbor and be seen!

Wednesday, 8/29,the phone cable at the Hwy 36 bridge
construction site (west of Cheshire) was cut sometime Monday
night/Tuesday early morning, despite a security camera being on site. The replacement cable was also cut again:
Just like Tuesday there was no phone service in the a.m.. Thieves cut the
temporary phone lines at the new bridge on Hwy 36 again - 200 plus feet of cable was taken each time. The phone linemen said this is happening now wherever a new bridge is being constructed, since the phone cable has to be moved for the construction, and thieves have caught on to that.
What we can do to help is to watch and report suspicious activity at the
bridge if we see anything at night. This is causing problems for west of
Cheshire people because of the cell phone coverage being spotty and calling in emergencies could be a challenge. Some people have been going to the Dari-Mart and calling with their cell phone. Neighbors have to assist neighbors and let them know what is happening. It is going to be hard if they can get away with this.
If you are driving in any bridge construction area at night or after work
hours, keep your eyes open for possible illegal activities and report what
you see to the Lane County Sheriff's Office. Thanks.

These 3 scenarios reveal some creative ways that folks use to get others'
credit card information:
SCENE 1.
This is a new one. People sure stay busy trying to cheat us, don't they?
A friend went to the local gym and placed his belongings in the locker After the workout and a shower, he came out, saw the locker open, and thought to himself, "Funny, I thought I locked it. Hmm," He dressed and just flipped the wallet to make sure all was in order. Everything looked okay - all cards were in place. A few weeks later his credit card bill came - a whooping bill of $14,000!
He called the credit card company and started yelling at them, saying that he did not make the transactions.
Customer care personnel verified that there was no Mistake in the system and asked if his card had been stolen.
"No," he said, but then took out his wallet, pulled out the credit card, and yep - you guessed it - a switch had been made.
An expired similar credit card from the same bank was in the wallet. The thief broke into his locker at the gym and switched cards.
Verdict: The credit card issuer said since he did not report the card
missing earlier, he would have to pay the amount owed to them.
How much did he have to pay for items he did not buy?
$9,000!
Why were there no calls made to verify the amount swiped?
Small amounts rarely trigger a "warning bell" with some credit card
companies. It just so happens that all the small amounts added up to big one!
SCENE 2 A man at a local restaurant paid for his meal with his credit card. The bill for the meal came, he signed it, and the waitress folded the receipt and passed the credit card along. Usually, he would just take it and place it in his wallet or pocket. Funny enough, though, he actually took a look at the card and, lo and behold, it was the expired card of another person. He called the waitress and she looked perplexed. She took it back, apologized, and hurried back to the counter under the watchful eye of the man.
All the waitress did while walking to the counter was wave the wrong expired card to the counter cashier, and the counter cashier immediately looked down and took out the real card.
No exchange of words --- nothing! She took it and came back to the man with an apology.
Verdict: Make sure the credit cards in your wallet are yours. Check the name on the card every time you sign for something and/or the card is taken away for even a short period of time.
Many people just take back the credit card without even looking at it,
"assuming" that it has to be theirs.
FOR YOUR OWN SAKE, DEVELOP THE HABIT OF CHECKING YOUR CREDIT CARD EACH TIME
IT IS RETURNED TO YOU AFTER A TRANSACTION!
SCENE 3 Yesterday I went into a pizza restaurant to pick up an order that I called in. I paid by using my Visa Check Card which, of course, is linked directly to my checking account. The young man behind the counter took my card, swiped it, then laid it on the counter as he waited for approval, which is pretty standard procedure. While he waited, he picked up his cell phone and started dialing. I noticed the phone because it is the same model I have, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Then I heard a click that sounded like my phone sounds when I take a picture. He then gave me back my card but kept the phone in his hand as if he was still pressing buttons.
Meanwhile, I'm thinking: I wonder what he is taking a picture of, oblivious to what was really going on. It then dawned on me: the only thing there was my credit card, so now I'm paying close attention to what he is doing. He set his phone on the counter, leaving it open. About 5 seconds later, I heard the chime that tells you that the picture has been saved. Now I'm standing there struggling with the fact that this boy just took a picture of my credit card. Yes, he played it off well, because had we not had the same
kind of phone, I probably would never have known what happened. Needless to say, I immediately canceled that card as I was walking out of the pizza parlor.
All I am saying is: Be aware of your surroundings at all times. Whenever you are using your credit card take caution and don't be careless. Notice who is standing near you and what they are doing when you use your card. Be aware of phones, because many have a camera phone these days. When you are in a restaurant and the waiter / waitress brings your card and receipt for you to sign, make sure you scratch the number off. Some restaurants are using only the last four digits, but a lot of them are still putting the whole thing on
there.
Please FORWARD THIS TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN THINK OF. LET'S GET
THE WORD OUT! JUST BE AWARE
Monday, Sept. 20, 11:08 a.m.
Hi all - This message came in this morning from one of our members on
Dorsey Lane:
Friday, August 17 at 11:00 p.m., our family was just getting ready to head to bed. Our security alarm had not been set yet as we set it just before going to bed. My son and I were in the family room and heard a knock three times on the sliding glass door in the back of the house which is totally dark out there. We jumped up and told my husband who was in the bedroom. He told me to set the alarm quickly as he went to the door to check it out. There was a tall 24 ounce Keystone beer can left and no sign of anyone.
(Seems pretty brave of someone when it was obvious that we were home vehicles in the driveway and lights still on. And to be on foot would seem weird too out in the country there was no sign of a car down the street my husband checked that out also.)
Thanks for the report. Glad you are safe.
The installation of motion detector lights to cover all areas around your
home and yard may help discourage this kind of activity.
