Oregon Rangers Association
Making Oregon's backcountry safer and cleaner
Membership
The Oregon Rangers Association offers three different membership opportunities to the general public.  The benefit of this system is that you can help make Oregon a cleaner and safer place, regardless of income, time availability, age, health or any other factor that might limit your involvement.  Since all three forms of membership allow you some training, we must insist on a background check for anyone involved- we don't want to train the bad guys, after all.  The Oregon Rangers reserves the right to discontinue any level of your involvement, but we will never discriminate on any basis other than criminal activities.  All ages, genders, colors and creeds are welcome.
Supporting Member:
A supporting member makes a pledge to donate at least $35 a year.  This opportunity is intended for those that live outside of our area of operations and are unable to assist in other ways, but still want to make a difference.  With this form of membership, you will be given a priority seat in all of our public training classes including CPR, First Aid, 1st Responder and others.  Supporting members are also eligible to attend open meetings.  You could even just do it for a tax deduction!    Contact us for more details.
Auxiliary Ranger:
An Auxiliary Ranger is the life-blood of the Oregon Rangers Association.  These are the people who make a difference by providing us with what our state needs most, time and hard work.  These are the valuable people who are most likely to be seen painting, building, clearing trails, cleaning up illegal dumps and all the other things that make a real difference.  We ask for no financial pledge from Auxiliary members because in our line of volunteerism, sweat is more valuable than gold.  Auxiliary Rangers are eligible to receive almost all of our training opportunities, attend all Ranger meetings, as well as other benefits.  This is a good starting point for anyone who wants to be a full Oregon Ranger, but it also allows those that do not have enough time, energy, or good health to be actively involved in making Oregon a cleaner and safer place.  Our Auxiliary Rangers come from all walks of life and range from students to those that are many years retired.  If you can paint a box, send an e-mail, make a phone call, put a stamp on an envelope, we can put you to work. Contact us for more details.
Oregon Ranger:
Full membership in the Oregon Rangers Association, as an Oregon Ranger, is by invitation only.  If you believe you are able and willing to take on this responsibility both physically and financially, feel free to contact us with your personal history.  Those most likely to receive an invitation to apply for membership are those with previous experience in the skills involved with running our organization and responding to emergencies.  For example, those who have been, or still are, EMT's, law enforcement, firefighters, military, or similar occupations will always be looked at carefully.  Rangers must complete an extensive amount of training including:
a.Minimum of Armed Security Officer (DPSST) training.   b.First Responder certification from the State of Oregon.
c.Attend 50% of all training and meetings.
d.Current CPR card.
e.Bloodborne pathogens education class.

Applicants will also be subject to a more extensive background check, must be interviewed and approved by the board of directors and then must adhere to our by-laws and policies.  Contact us for more details.
